Game Review: Halo Reach Beta & Skate 3

This week we take a look at the ever so popular Halo Reach Beta & Skate 3. We got a hold of this game early and played it. Soybomb and part of the Peanut Gallery comment on how it plays, changes in the mechanics of the game like grenade throwing, melee attacks, assassinations and the different classes. What? An RPG term in FPS world? Joe “The Master” Yu comments in how Bungie is fumbling to recover from the awesomeness of the early Halo games. But we do recommend the beta. Huge download for a free chance at some extra multiplayer.

The 120 crew played Skate 3 “aka” Skate 1 or Skate 2 with extras. Listen to “The Master” as he expresses his concern for the livelihood of the Skate franchise. Will the franchise live the life of the Tony Hawk franchise? Soybomb enjoyed the attention to detail that Skate 3 adds to “real” skateboarding experience.

Game Industry News

MLB 2K Challenge has a winner. Twin Galaxies announces a one million recipient for pitching a perfect game.

Plenty of news out of Nintendo Land. Nintendo announces that the upcoming 3DS will include something to stop piracy on the new handheld. Joe “The Master” Yu bets $10 bucks that it won’t. R4 for life. Nintendo also reports a loss for the first time in 6 years. Other news announces that Nintendo should start looking into a premium or at least an improved online service. No word on how it will work, but major changes would have to be done to both the network and the hardware of the Wii.

Christmas Nights into Dreams

“The Master” & Quan Chi have found an alternative to taking drugs. Say no to drugs kids. Play Nights for the Sega Saturn instead of taking acid. Same results. Especially this week’s rarity; Christmas Nights. This freebie was given away along with official Sega Saturn Magazine, special Saturn bundles and other publications. Some received the cardboard sleeves and some were not as fortunate and only received plastic sleeves. Use notebook paper! There’s your homemade jewel case. DIY awesomeness.

Upcoming Events

SC3 was awesome. Alf gum - one raffle ticket. Burgers – a small donation to the guys from SC3, even though 120 Games brought the food. Playing catch with that awesome dog all night– priceless.
